University of Birmingham's arts research among best in world

The University of Birmingham’s arts and humanities researchers have been ranked among the best in the world in a UK-wide research quality survey released today.

The results of the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014 place Birmingham in the upper echelons of the UK for the quality and impact of its research across a host of arts and humanities disciplines.

Christmas in Newcastle for international students

UK and international students staying in Newcastle during Christmas and New Year are being given a chance to meet up and take part in a diverse range of activities this festive period.

The ‘Christmas in Newcastle’ programme, organised and run jointly between Newcastle and Northumbria universities provides students with an opportunity to experience a traditional Christmas, explore more of the city and surrounding areas, and make the holiday a truly memorable one.

Engineering and Law students win International Intern Scholarships  

Twenty international students in the Faculty of Engineering and the Law School were presented with scholarships in November, for their high achievement during internships in their home countries.

 The Faculty of Engineering has been awarding scholarships for several years after an initiative by its Industrial Liaison Office, and were joined this year by the Law School.
