Guardian Ranks University of Warwick in UK top 10

The UK's Guardian Newspaper has today, Tuesday 26th May 2015, once again ranked the University of Warwick in the UK’s top 10 universities, ranking it at 6th overall in the UK (up three places from last year’s Guardian table), and also once again ranking Warwick as the top University in the West Midlands.

Warwick also had thirteen Departments ranked by the Guardian in the top ten in the UK:

Warwick Business School (WBS) 1st for Accounting 2nd for Business

Economics 2nd

Mathematics Institute 2nd

Classics and Ancient History 4th

Film and Television Studies 4th

Sociology 4th

Theatre, Performance and Cultural Policy Studies 4th

Chemistry 5th

History of Art 5th

Politics and International Studies 5th

History 8th

School of Modern Languages and Cultures 9th

Engineering 10^th

York graduate wins young composer award

A University of York music graduate has won the National Centre for Early Music (NCEM) Young Composer of the Year Award 2015, presented in partnership with BBC Radio 3 and the Dunedin Consort.

John Goldie-Scot, aged 25, won the award in the 19 to 25 years category, alongside fellow winner Joshua Urben in the 18 years and under category.

China-UK research centre launched to improve global stewardship

Lancaster University has launched a joint China-UK research centre to advance environmental policy and practice.

The Joint Research Centre for Environmental Sciences and Policy will enable scientists from the two countries to share their nations’ knowledge and experience, and to carry out joint research projects into issues of global environmental significance.
